Reporting harassment

In case of workplace harassment, a complaint can be made to the Inquiry Committee of your organization formed under Section 3 of the The Protection Against Harassment of Women at Workplace Act, 2010.

A case of workplace harassment can be reported directly to the Federal/Provincial Ombudsman, appointed under Section 8 of the The Protection Against Harassment of Women at Workplace Act, 2010. The complaint can be made online at the websites of the Federal and Provincial Ombudsmen.  

A case of harassment outside of the workplace can be reported directly to Police under Section 509 of the Pakistan Penal Code.

Victims of harassment are advised to share the details of the incident with trusted colleagues and family members.

A complaint regarding sexual harassment should ideally be submitted in a written form. The following details should be recorded by the victim at the time or after the incident for a strong case:

  1. Date and Time of the incident
  2. In case of online/ digital harassment, screenshots or recordings of phone calls.
  3. Name of the perpetrator(s)
  4. If possible, a video recording of the incident (through a persona device or CCTV footage)
  5. In case of a verbal exchange, the victim is advised to immediately write down the details that can be added to the complaint. This will prevent any inconsistencies in arguments in the future. 

Reporting Cybercrime

An incident of cyber-crime can be reported online at http://www.nr3c.gov.pk/

The victim can also visit the nearest National Response Center for Cyber Crime (NR3C) to register the complaint in person. Details of these centers can be found at http://www.nr3c.gov.pk/contact.html
